Aoraki Mount Cook is the jewel in the crown of New Zealand's many National Parks. Being only a stunning 45min drive from Pukaki Air Lodge enables you to maximise your time in this beautiful location.

The Mackenzie Basin is also a great place to explore the high country with a range of reserves, parks, and conservation areas encompassing mountains, plains and wetlands.

There is a wide range of walks available that cater to all fitness and experience levels.

Options include river, canal and lake walks beginning from Twizel or over 30 walking tracks that start within an hour’s drive of Pukaki Air Lodge.

Twizel is a fantastic base camp for the hiker to experience the alpine terrain available close by – particularly in the Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park.

The 10km return world-famous Hooker Valley track takes you through the National Park to the Hooker Valley Lake at the very base of Aoraki Mount Cook. The track is accessible to most people with its well-formed and maintained tracks.

The Tasman Valley tracks give you views to the Tasman Glacier – New Zealand's longest glacier

There are also an array of equally stunning shorter walks and more challenging hikes for the truly adventurous. 

Scenic flights and Tasman Glacier hikes, depart from the Mt Cook Airport which is situated in the National Park.
